My friend Isabella from BBDO just sent me this. I really won't say that much since I believe The Grumpty Brit already explained how I feel about this ad:
The client is a cretin. The “creative” team are imbeciles. The agency, Glow in Berlin is utterly irresponsible. This is surely one of the dumbest ads produced in a long time. It’s no less dumb and insensitive than the Brazilian 9/11 climate change video. I’m sure they they thought it was clever. They probably believe they’re making some kind of “statement”. No doubt they praised the client for his “courage” in going with it.
You make ads. Your client makes underwear. Get yourselves in perspective.
AdFreak.com’s reviewer, the equally vacuous and inane David Gianatasio, suggests the ad “boasts a cool, even poignant twist ending”.
Don’t any of you people read the papers? Don’t you know anything about the world beyond your fucking awards annuals and comic books and movies and fashion magazines? You are children, quite literally playing with fire. This is tasteless and insulting. It will provoke the ire of even the most moderate Muslim, as it should. I just hope it doesn’t provoke worse.
Couldn't agree more.
