"Man cannot discover new oceans unless
he has the courage to lose sight of the of the shore"
he has the courage to lose sight of the of the shore"
Well, as Michael Schwalbe from Behance explains, many of the strategies employed in competitive and recreational sports are applicable in business and our personal lives. Like the "40-30-30 Rule" which establishes how in the world of sports, success is usually only 40% physical training and 60% is mental. And of that, the first 30% is technical skill and experience while the second 30% is the willingness to take risks.
There is no doubt that expanding your knowledge and/or skill sets is definitely valuable. But playing it safe only will take you so far.... to go a step further you will need action, experience and a significant dose of risk.
The "40-30-30 Rule" remind us that in order to enrich our creative development, we need to focus on the last 30%. We have to rebalance our own nature and make risk part of our professional toolkit.
Most people know they can do extraordinary things if they just have the courage to take some risks more often, but for some reason they usually just sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever.
Embrace failure. Overcome your fears. Fail harder. Learn from your mistakes...
No matter how you say it as long as you get out of your comfort zone and do it.
