Living in New York City certainly has its advantages. And, as I've been lucky to experience the past 6 years, one of the riches [and most unique] ones is the absurd amount of entrepreneurs that everyday commits to the selfless mission of bringing interestingness to our lives, in the form of gatherings, talks and conferences.
Well, last week I attended an event that reminded me of this fact, Lucid NY. They describe themselves as “enlightenment, one party at the time” and that couldn’t be more accurate since their model is pretty much that: a series of short presentations and/or performances that take place at a bar where people gather to have open conversations about projects and passions.
The night started off with the amazing Alex Simon Group, followed by fascinating presentations by MIT’s Leo Bonnani who shared the philosophy behind sourcemap, Google’s Creative Director Ji Lee, and Andy Bichlbaum of the incredible Yes Men team. What happened next was just a series of enlightening [yet very relaxed] conversations with a bunch of interesting people.
They get together several times a year so I encourage anyone living in NYC to attend. Rich talks, smart conversations, amazing people.
Congrats to David, Julian, Fred and the rest of the Lucid team! Great idea, great execution.
